Focusing on therapeutic elements, integrative & senior yoga classes combine special movements, stretches, breathing and relaxation practices that are modified to accommodate individual’s needs. Appropriate for seniors, individuals with limited mobility, those living with chronic conditions or recovering from illness or injury, these unique classes

promote increased relaxation, flexibility, balance,

strength and self-awareness.


This pioneering practice, developed by veteran yoga therapists in conjunction with Duke Integrative Medicine, part of the Duke University Health System, combines the best of modern, evidence-based medicine with the ancient wisdom, experience and tradition of

Yogic teachings.


The class is available to all, whether you remain on the floor, work from a chair or wheelchair, stand

(on your own or with the support of a chair or walker) or transition between these various options.


This yoga practice is designed to enhance the well-being of both men and women in there sixties and beyond who are in good health as well as individuals of all ages who are living with various conditions and diseases and their related treatments.


Even if you live with heart disease, lung disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacement, dementia, chronic pain or cancer, this yoga practice can help you to bridge mind, body & spirit and it compliments

traditional medicine for a more holistic and

integrative approach to your health and aging.

This yoga can be especially empowering to those recovering or restricted to their beds.


Classes are open to all, no prior yoga experience necessary.

You CAN attend with an oxygen canister, artificial joints or prosthetic heart valves.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing.

Feel free to keep your shoes on if this provides you better balance or comfort.

It is important to stay hydrated so you may like to bring water to sip during class.

Mats, chairs and props are available to borrow.

You may also use your cane, walker or wheelchair in this yoga class.

You are welcome to come on your own or with an assistant.


Remember, You are the Expert and I am your Guide,

together we will develop a practice that is specific to you and your needs.
