Infant Massage is an age old practice

that has been passed from mother to daughter

throughout history and across cultures.

Today scientific research has shown that these gentle strokes provide many benefits beyond those traditionally understood.  

Infant massage releases tension, for both baby and parent/caregiver and eases discomfort. It has been shown to aid digestion, promote sleep, stimulate weight gain in premature infants, and even improve breathing in babies with asthma.

During this program you will learn special techniques to help if

your baby is suffering with discomforts such as

colic, congestion, fever and gas and

you will learn modifications for working with

premature infants and babies with special needs.

You will have the opportunity to practice the strokes

during class and you will learn the basic routine

gradually adding new strokes each week.

if you would like to join an upcoming Infant Massage Training series

or if you are interested in private training for your family or

you would like to form a small group session of your own with your friends.

An Infant Massage Training series generally meets 6 times over the course of 4 to 6 weeks. Series are planned to include some, if not all, evening and weekend sessions to hopefully allow both parents or caregivers to be able to attend at least 2 sessions. Included in your training is an instructional packet,

oil appropriate for massaging your baby,

informative and easy to follow hand-outs and

Infant Massage: A Handbook for Loving Parents by Vimala McClure.

You will have the opportunity to learn the strokes by practicing on your baby

or a doll during the training so don’t worry if your baby sleeps or is fussy.

Dress comfortably as we generally work on the floor.

It is possible to massage your baby while seated in a chair or  while standing at a table.

If you are unable to work on the floor please let me know

so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
